Signs of ADD and ADHD

If your child is showing signs of attention deficit disorder (ADD) or attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), our pediatric doctors may recommend a Qb test. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 6 million children are affected by ADD/ADHD. These conditions can be difficult to diagnose, and Qb testing for children in Smyrna, Clarkston, Lithonia, GA, and surrounding communities is considered one of the best diagnostic tools. You can schedule a Qb test for your child at our office.

Signs of ADD and ADHD

ADD/ADHD typically causes physical and cognitive challenges for children. Some of the signs of ADD/ADHD can be linked to other issues, so it is important to have your child properly diagnosed. A Qb test may be recommended if your child:

  • Is unable to sit still in quiet, calm settings
  • Often acts without thinking through a situation
  • Talks excessively
  • Displays excessive physical movements, such as fidgeting
  • Demonstrates a lack of patience in certain situations, such as when waiting for a turn
  • Difficulty concentrating

What is a Qb Test?

A Qb test is a diagnostic process that aids with the diagnosis of ADD/ADHD in children. The test is tailored to your child’s gender and age and measures impulsivity, concentration, and physical movement. Results of a Qb test are used in conjunction with other diagnostic tools to determine if an ADD/ADHD diagnosis is appropriate for your child.

How Accurate is a Qb Test?

Qb testing for children is approximately 80% accurate. When combined with other diagnostic techniques, a Qb test increases the likelihood of an accurate ADD/ADHD diagnosis.

What to Expect During a Qb Test

A Qb test takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Your child sits at a desk that is equipped with a tracking camera, computer screen, and responder button. Your child wears a headband that has a reflective ball to help the camera track movement. A series of shapes is shown on the computer screen, and your child presses the responder button each time a specific shape is displayed. A Qb test is not a matter of right and wrong answers. Instead, it is intended to measure key indicators of ADD/ADHD.
