Hitting Developmental Milestones

It’s important to remember that each child develops at different speeds and that there isn’t a definitive time that your child should be hitting certain milestones. However, there are ranges that you can expect your child to start hitting milestones within. For the first few months, the milestones you can expect are fairly subtle and small but will begin to develop quickly. During the first few months, you’ll start to notice your child responds to sounds and faces. This typically means looking in the direction of noises and being aware of certain sounds. Around three months, you’ll start to notice your child smiling and starting to support their upper body when they lay on their stomach. They’ll also start to gain control of their head. Babies will also tend to start making noises of their own within the first few months.

Halfway through the first year, you’ll start noticing that your child responds to specific things, like their name. They may start to crawl and be able to sit up. As they approach their first year of life, you’ll notice them beginning to try and stand and possibly even take their first steps!
